But after one week, the ball is still on the move and what happens in Quebec doesn’t really come out, and Francois Legault continually calls on Quebecers to vote not in favour of Liberals, the NPD and Greens and appear to support the Conservatives.
The Legault factor, nevertheless. In Maclean’s, Fournier says that what is going to happen this week should be more clearly understood.
At least one situation could lead to a larger rather than less liberal advantage from Legault’s intervention.
The last two elections saw the Liberals capture a number of francophone seats through a favourable split in non-liberal voting between Conservatives and the Bloc.
There is also the question of whether the nice comments of Legault are a blessing or a curse to O’Toole outside of Quebec.
The popularity of the premier may be frowned on in Quebec by conservatives, but its backing could have an impact outside the province. Legault is a contentious figure in many parts of the rest of Canada.
